Opportunity: General Manager for WWEL, WANV, and WFTG in London, Kentucky
Kentucky’s largest small market radio group is actively seeking a General Manager for one of its fastest growing radio markets in London, Kentucky, with stations WWEL FM SAM 103.9, WANV FM Kool Gold 96.7, and WFTG 1400 AM/106.9 FM. Forcht Broadcasting Radio and Digital serves nine radio markets with 26 radio stations in Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois.
Forcht Broadcasting London wants a General Manager ready to begin an exciting career in the radio industry telling radio client and community stories in southeastern Kentucky and helping advance the digital platforms of Forcht Broadcasting radio. WWEL, WANV, and WFTG use legacy and traditional radio and digital, multi-media platforms to promote and grow local businesses and advance the footprint of Forcht Broadcasting London. We are not looking for a leader who uses a standard, “cookie-cutter,” approach to presenting radio and digital advertising experiences and digital platforms. We want a General Manager who is motivated and understands each radio client and market is different and who leads and motivates a radio and digital marketing team.
Qualified candidates should have at least 5 years of experience working at an FCC licensed radio station. At least two of these years should have been spent in a leadership role at the radio station or radio market. Experience and knowledge of radio and digital sales is a must. Having a post-secondary degree in business, broadcasting, marketing, or communications is preferred but not a requirement to submit a resume for the career opportunity as a Forcht Broadcasting London General Manager.
The WWEL, WANV, and WFTG General Manager will be expected to do the following:
1.) Understand broadcast radio and digital sales and how both work together to develop effective advertising solutions
2.) Manage the day-to-day operations and budgets of the WWEL, WANV, and WFTG radio stations
2.) Have knowledge of digital, online, and social media platforms used in the radio industry
3.) Develop successful advertising and marketing solutions and campaigns for clients using multi-media platforms and deliver the campaigns to the radio team
4.) Set weekly and monthly sales goals for the radio station
5.) Engage in professional development opportunities provided and paid for by Forcht Broadcasting, which includes taking online digital marketing courses from the Radio Advertising Bureau
6.) Find new advertising and community partners to invest in the radio stations
7.) Represent Forcht Broadcasting London at various community activities and meetings such as chamber of commerce meetings, ribbon-cutting ceremonies, and etc.
8.) Keep up-to-date on industry and company-wide radio practices and developments
9.) Ensure the radio stations’ programming is relevant, focused, appropriate, and competitive
10.) Meet or talk with frequently the Forcht Broadcasting Radio and Digital President/CEO, providing updates on market financials and progress
