Food, Fun and Fireworks Return to London June 28

LONDON, KY — A full evening of family-friendly entertainment, crowd-pleasing musicians, and the largest display of fireworks in Southeastern Kentucky make Red, White and Boom the place to be on Saturday, June 28.

The annual Independence Day celebration will take place once again at the College Park Campus, located off the Ky. 192 Bypass behind the Laurel County Public Library and Somerset Community College. The park’s spacious grounds and scenic pond, perfect for reflecting fireworks, make it a favorite location for the event.

Also happening that evening is the annual Patriotic Concert by the London Community Band, scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Guests can enjoy the concert and still make it to the park in time for fireworks at dusk.

Red, White and Boom and the Patriotic Concert are both funded and supported by London Tourism & Parks. Special thanks to all City of London departments—including Police, Fire, and Public Works, as well as to Laurel County Emergency Management for helping to produce the event, and to Somerset Community College for their support in allowing use of the property

Festivities at RWB kick off at 4 p.m. with games, contests, live music, and more. The fireworks display is set to begin at dusk around 9:45 p.m.

Children can enjoy attractions like the Hillview Stables petting zoo, face painting, and the beloved Hillbilly Choo Choo. Roving entertainers including magicians, clowns, a stilt walker, and a unicyclist will keep crowds smiling.

Besides the fireworks and activities, Red, White and Boom is also known for offering great music. This year continues the tradition with a high-energy performance from two exciting acts.

Bluewater Kings is a nationally touring party band known for their vibrant stage presence and crowd-pleasing setlists. With a lineup of talented musicians and vocalists, they specialize in delivering energetic performances that get the whole crowd moving.

Nashville’s July Moon, made up of Piper Bateman, Page Mackenzie, and Braelyn Watt, blends classic rock influences with modern country flair. The all-female trio draws inspiration from legendary groups like Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles, coining their signature sound as “Fleetwood Country.”

In between music sets, guests can join fun contests on the main stage, including the Limber Limbo, hula hoop challenges, and sack races.

Food vendors will be on-site offering summertime favorites like hot dogs, hamburgers, and shaved ice, ensuring no one goes hungry. With the exception of food purchases, all activities and entertainment at Red, White and Boom are free of charge.

Come celebrate at Southeastern Kentucky’s premier Fourth of July event, Red, White and Boom in London, on Saturday, June 28.
