SENATOR STORM NOMINATED TO ATTEND NATIONAL EMERGING LEADER CONFERENCE
FRANKFORT, Ky. (December 6, 2021) – State Senator Brandon J. Storm (R-London) has been nominated as a 2021 National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Emerging Leader. He will be in attendance for the 2021 Emerging Leader conference this week in Alexandria, Va.
“I look forward to joining members of legislatures from across this great nation at the NCSL Emerging Leader conference,” Senator Storm said. “The voices of citizens from districts such as ours need to be heard more on the national level because we have so much to offer. I am honored to take my representation of the 21st District from Frankfort to Alexandria, Va. this week, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity.”
Senator Storm began his term in office this past January. In his short time as a member of the Kentucky General Assembly, he has successfully sponsored several pieces of legislation and serves as vice-chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Transportation and chair of the Senate Enrollment Committee. Last month, Senator Storm attended an NCSL conference hosted in Tampa, Fl., along with numerous members of the Kentucky General Assembly. Additionally, this past July, he participated in a roundtable conference hosted by the Southern Legislative Conference. He joined fellow legislators to discuss the challenges facing states’ efforts to address infrastructure needs.
According to the NCSL website, the organization was founded in 1975 to represent legislatures in the states, territories, and commonwealths of the U.S. NCSL’s mission is to advance legislatures’ effectiveness, independence, and integrity to foster interstate cooperation and facilitate the exchange of information among legislatures. The organization also represents legislatures in dealing with the federal government, especially in support of state sovereignty and state flexibility and protection from unfunded federal mandates and unwarranted federal preemption. The conference promotes cooperation between state legislatures in the U.S. and those in other countries. In addition, NCSL is committed to improving the operations and management of state legislatures and the effectiveness of legislators and legislative staff. It also encourages the practice of high standards of conduct by legislators and legislative staff.

Senator Brandon Storm (R-London) represents the 21st District, which includes Bath, Estill, Jackson, Laurel, Menifee, and Powell Counties. Senator Storm is the vice-chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Transportation and serves as chair of the Senate Enrollment Committee. He also serves as a member of the Senate Standing Committees on Economic Development, Tourism, and Labor; State and Local Government; Banking and Insurance; and is a liaison member of the Budget Review Subcommittee on Human Resources.
