GOD’S PANTRY FOOD BANK CONTINUES DISASTER RELIEF EFFORTS IN EASTERN KENTUCKY GIVE NOW TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Neighbors in Eastern Kentucky have been severely impacted by the devastating floods that occurred last week. Our team at God’s Pantry Food Bank, along with dozens of local community partners, are moving quickly to meet the widespread need for food, water, and relief supplies.
As friends of God’s Pantry Food Bank, we want to take a moment to share what we have accomplished alongside our community partners so far:
- 616+ cases of water delivered to Breathitt and Perry Counties
- 130+ cases of water delivered to Martin County
- Water and MREs (meals ready to eat) were made available at our Prestonsburg warehouse for pick-up by active partner agencies
- 177,500 “on the go” meals of snacks, food, and water were delivered to Wolfe, Breathitt, and Clay Counties
- Hygiene and cleaning supplies delivered to Perry County in partnership with Save the Children
But there is still more to be done. Neighbors that need our help. Communities that need to be rebuilt from the ground up.
Melissa Scruggs Brashear of Viper, KY shares, “My community is devastated. Our area as we knew it is gone. … The pictures on the media don’t really show it. It looks like the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Many of my friends have lost everything.”
As Kentuckians, we are known for coming together to support neighbors in times of need. God’s Pantry Food Bank remains steadfast in our commitment to continue our disaster relief efforts in Eastern Kentucky. Over the coming weeks, we will work hard to expand those efforts. We know the value that food brings in times of crisis – not only sustenance, but also comfort and encouragement. Please join us as we deliver hope to so many neighbors experiencing hunger in Eastern Kentucky.
