Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky Provides Update on Access To Immediate Funding, Volunteer Locations, & More
Rising Together
This past week has been both overwhelming and heartbreaking for our community, but we are still here, rising together. From Hazard to Hemphill we have seen the best of the Eastern Kentuckian spirit.
Below are updates about our funding efforts from the last 48 hours. And, if you are able, please consider continuing to support these efforts.
Give NowAccess to Immediate Funding
Our staff and volunteers have spent this week canvasing across impacted counties to help people who have lost everything gain access to immediate funding.
We are currently able to offer $250, plus $50 for each child in the household. This is only a first step. When recovery is underway, we hope to have additional resources to help with bigger issues (cars, houses, businesses, farms), so we want people in our system.
We know that recovery will take months and years, and we will be providing additional financial assistance and connection to other resources.
If you are working with people able to access the internet, applications for individuals and families are now live at bit.ly/ekyflood2022.
Please call our office at 606-439-1357 if you need assistance filling out the application.
Volunteer Locations
Today (Thursday, August 4) we have volunteers in Breathitt County at area shelters.
Tomorrow (Friday, August 5) we will have volunteers in Blackey, McRoberts, Neon, Hemphill and Jackson. Please be on the lookout for them if you need to fill out an application for immediate assistance.
High Call Volume: We Will Call You Back
We are experiencing limited cell service from our office in Hazard. We have also been receiving a very high call volume to our land line. If you are trying to get help with an application or get in touch with us, please keep trying our land line. We are working as quickly as possible to field calls and will call you back! Our office number is: 606-439-1357
Grants for Farmers and Small Business
Grants for farmers and small businesses are coming online shortly. Please check back for updates next week. The flood relief page on our website will continue to be updated with the most current application options and flood relief information.
We Still Need Your Help
Thank you to everyone who have been donating, volunteering and showing up for our communities! Please continue to give if you can! Further updates will be sent via email, and we are also posting on our social channels, linked below.
