Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky Details Donation Items Needed For Flood Relief
Corey Chesnut with Forcht Bank went to Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky recently and wanted to provide an update on what is going on.
First of all it’s amazing what they are doing, they gave out $800k just this weekend and have about 5000 emergency grant applications still to be processed. They have about 20 high school kids working the phones helping those people in need with whatever they can or at least pointing them in the right direction. It was like grand central station in their offices. I am sure they will be pushing out some stats but currently their primary goal is to help those effected as quickly as possible.
I also want to share with you all what they have considered currently their most urgent needs, monetary donations are obviously at the top as well, these items are below:
URGENT NEED:
- 500 gallons of Mold mitigation: example – Concrobium (send to Housing Development Alliance – 2871 N Main St, Hazard, KY 41701)
NOTE – BLEACH IS NOT AN EFFECTIVE MOLD REMEDIATOR- SPECIFIC MOLD-REMEDIATION PRODUCTS ARE NEEDED - Spray bottles and pesticide sprayers (without the pesticide)
- Shovels
- Push brooms
- Laundry detergent
- Squeegees
- Rakes
- Wheelbarrows
- Tools for removing debris
- Tools for removing water damaged drywall, molding, sheathing, etc.
- Pet food
- Cleaning supplies
- Larger sizes of children’s diapers
- Hardware
- Camping gear
- Furniture dollies
