The following message was shared from UK Cooperative Extension Office:
Dear Laurel County Friends and Neighbors,
Our hearts are heavy as we reflect on the devastating tornadoes that swept through our county. We know many of you are facing unimaginable loss and hardship, and we want you to know that the Laurel County Cooperative Extension is here for you — not just today, but in the days and weeks to come.
In times like these, it’s essential that we come together as a community. Whether you need reliable information, assistance, or just someone to talk to, our office is here to help guide and support you through the recovery process.
We’ve gathered a list of resources to help you begin taking the next steps:
Laurel County Health Department has compiled a comprehensive list of local recovery resources, donation and volunteer contacts, mental health resources, and important information, which you can access here.
Ready.gov/tornadoes also offers helpful tips and safety guidance for dealing with the aftermath of a tornado, which you can explore here.
If you or someone you know has experienced agricultural damage, the London USDA office is asking producers to take photographs of the damage and reach out directly: Phone: 606-864-2172 Email: kylondon-fsa@usda.gov
Please don’t hesitate to contact us at the Extension Office with any questions or needs you may have — even if you’re not sure where to start. We’re here to connect you with resources, provide information, and stand with you during this challenging time.
If you are a disaster survivor, please visit FEMA.gov for up-to-date information on current disaster declarations.
