Storm Named Chair of Senate Judiciary Committee
FRANKFORT, KY (Dec. 4, 2024)—Senate Majority Leadership has announced Sen. Brandon Storm, R-London, will serve as the new chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee. The committee oversees legal matters such as civil and criminal laws, the court and corrections systems, and juvenile justice. It ensures the justice system operates fairly and efficiently while upholding laws to protect the public’s rights and maintain public safety.
“Brandon is exceptionally qualified to lead this critical committee,” said Senate President Robert Stivers, R-Manchester. “As an attorney with extensive trial court experience and deep knowledge of civil, criminal and family litigation in state and federal courts, I have complete confidence in his ability to guide legislation through the Judiciary Committee with expertise and integrity.”
In addition to his new role, Storm will continue to serve on the Senate Transportation Committee, where he was vice chair. He will also remain on the Senate Banking and Insurance Committee. Storm has been named Senate co-chair of the Juvenile Justice Oversight Council and will be a liaison member of the Budget Reserve Subcommittee on Justice.
“I am honored and prepared to take on the role of Judiciary Committee chair,” Storm said. “I want to thank Senate leadership for trusting me to serve in this capacity. As I enter my fifth session as senator for the 21st Senate District, I bring professional and legislative experience to this role and look forward to applying what I’ve learned to help shape sound policy for Kentucky’s justice system.”
A native of Laurel County, Storm earned his Bachelor of Science in police administration from Eastern Kentucky University in 2000 and a Juris Doctor from the Mississippi College School of Law in 2003. He graduated from the esteemed Henry Toll Fellowship Program in 2023.
